About Christine

Hello!  My name is Christine Adair - Welcome to my sugar world!  Since 1990, I have had the privilege of playing and working with the sugar arts.  I thought I would start out slowly but it seemed like I just jumped in with both feet and have been busy ever since.

My mother was a wonderful cook.  We always had homemade pies, cookies and cakes around our country home.  She was a farmer's wife, raising children who did their share of helping her plant garden, can vegetables and "messing" in the kitchen.  My love of baking, born of those early experiences, motivated me to enter my first cake in the Coles County Fair when I was only 11 years old.  It was the American Flag!  I wish I had a picture of it since it was so very sad - you can probably picture what thick red and white stripes, spread with a butter knife, might look like on a hot sweltering central Illinois day!  Yep, the colors ran together when it was in the showcase.  I was undeterred and now look back and realize what a wonderful learning experience it had been.

My husband Andy and I have been married for 28 years and have been blessed with two wonderful children.  Our daughter Bailey is married to Anthony Maldonado and they have 3 children, Leo, Lola and Lily.  Our son Sam is married to Allie and they have two children Cooper and Stella.  My husband Andy is a retired fire chief from the City of Mattoon and now keeps busy working for me in my business.

Now for me!  I worked for a local dentist for 22 years.  He retired in 2000 so I decided to take a cake decorating class at a little shop in Champaign, Illinois.  It was just the beginning of my love of the sugar arts.

I went to a bridal show in Chattanooga, TN, where several cake decorators introduced me to a wonderful organization called ICES (International Cake Exploration Societe'). That opened up a whole new world for me.  Through ICES, I have taken classes from some of the most talented and renowned cake decorators in the country:  Nicholas Lodge, Earlene Moore, Susan O'Boyle Jacobson, and Kathy Scott among others.

The love of cake decorating has been an all-consuming love affair for me.  My business, which began with baking cakes and cookies for friends and family, has grown into a full time sophisticated business.  The marriage of "homemade" quality and state-of-the-art decorating has been a successful one and one I know will continue for a long time.

God bless you and your family and please come back to my web site and check on the new cakes that I have done!
